About Climate Solutions

panoramaFrom private action to public policy.

Be part of the solutions!

Climate Solutions began as the effort of twelve diverse Maine groups, from higher education, renewable energy businesses, farmers and gardeners, winter sports enthusiasts, faith communities, Native nations, environmentalists, and community development financial institutions, seeking to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and help our communities build resilience in response to the changing climate.

These twelve groups – CEI, Conservation Law Foundation, InSource Renewables, Maine Conservation Alliance, Maine Interfaith Power & Light, Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, Mountain Riders Alliance, The Penobscot Nation, ReVision Energy, The Resilience Hub, Unity College, and 350 Maine – hosted two concurrent events on one day in March of 2014 at the Augusta Civic Center – an Expo and a Summit.  At least 1000 attendees visited the exhibits, listened to panel presentations, and participated in the Summit.  Over 300 middle and high school students were among the attendees.

As a follow up to the 2014 Expo and Summit, the Climate Solutions Communication and Outreach group formed to continue the momentum of our event.  It’s first effort is the Mapping Project – see our home page!
